Grief Support

We suggest the grief support groups offered by Munson Hospice and Palliative Care or your local church or parish. There are several Munson Hospice and Palliative support groups that meet as follows:

Monday evening at the Munson Hospice House

Tuesday morning at the Traverse City Senior Center

Friday morning at Sacred Heart Church in Elk Rapids

Loss of a child of any age Compassionate Friends at the Munson Community Health Center

Children’s Art Therapy Program at the Munson Hospice House

There are also a number of faith based support groups in the community entitled Grief Share. www.griefshare.org These churches sponsor this program: Faith Reformed Church (947-7082), First Congregational Church (947-6698), West Side Community Church (941-9300), Christ United Methodist Church (946-3048). 

The Presbyterian Church also offers a grief support program. Contact Rev. Becky Chamberlain at 946-5680 for more information. Other churches may offer support groups, please check with your congregation of choice.

Michael’s Place is another option that offers support for children and adolescents. Please visit www.michaels-place.net or call 947-6453.

A support group may not be right for you. If you would prefer individual help please call us for suggestions at 947-6347. Our funeral home also sponsors educational programs related to coping with grief such as Holidays in Grief held every year in November. We also have a lending library and brochures related to coping with grief.
